After the success of its SU7 model, the YU7 shows Xiaomi’s increasing confidence in its EV vehicle business. Ever since its launch in March 2024, the SU7 sedan sales have already crossed its original target of 100,000 units this year and is expected to reach around 130,000 units, much over its expectations. The SU7 price starts at RNB 215,900 ($29,700) in China.

Xiaomi YU7 is well placed to take on competitors from BYD, Tesla model Y, Nio, Li Auto among others in the largest EV market of the world.

In short

With the recent success of the SU7 sedan, Xiaomi must clearly be riding high and looking to reinforce its position further in the EV market. Expanding into the SUV market will definitely expand its customer base.

Though not much is said about its pricing, we expect it to be competitively priced like the SU7. If Xiaomi can do that, the YU7 will definitely serve as another driver to Xiaomi’s growth ambition in EV market.

We cannot wait to see the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra too.
