Volkswagen just released details of its upcoming VW ID.1 all electric concept car. Though showcased as an ID. Every1 model, it will most likely carry the ID.1 badging. With a size of a VW Polo, the company wants it to compete in the compact electric mass market. It’s to be built in Europe for Europe. Volkswagen is well known for its nice-looking, affordable cars for the masses, like the Beetle, Golf, Polo, etc.
The VW ID.1 price would be around Euro 20,000 and is expected to be launched as a 2027 model. Volkswagen intends to make it smart, flexible, and affordable with a sporty design that is attractive to both private and commercial customers.
Volkswagen plans to launch up to nine new models by 2027, which would include four electric models based on its new modular electric drive (MEB) platform.

Design
The VW ID.1 concept car looks quite similar to the Polo in its design language. Striking features of this compact sporty hatchback are its pupil-like headlights, vertical daytime running lights on the sides of the bumper, illuminated VW badges, and striking two-tone alloy wheels. The rear follows the same design theme as the front.
“Our ambition was to create something bold yet accessible. The ID. EVERY1 has a self-assured appearance but remains likable—thanks to details such as the dynamic front lights and the ‘smiling’ rear. These design elements make it more than just a car; they give it character and an identity that people can relate to,” Andreas Mindt, Volkswagen Head of Design.
Inside the VW ID.1 concept car is simple and spacious. A big central touchscreen and a small front display. The vehicle will feature a powerful software architecture that will allow it to be equipped with new upgrades and functions throughout its complete life cycle.
With its front passenger seat and the back seat folded, it offers a large storage space.
VW ID.1 Concept car: In short
The VW ID.1 concept car is a move by Volkswagen into the small, compact, entry-level, affordable electric market. With Volkswagen’s past experience in building some of the most loved mass-produced cars, like the Beetle and Golf, it’s most likely that Volkswagen will hit the spot again.
Expected to be launched in 2027 with a starting price of around Euro 20,000, it will follow the ID. 2, which is expected to be released in 2026 at around Euro 25,000. Both models are based on Volkswagen’s new modular electric drive platform with front-wheel drive.
Combined with other electric ID models, it will give Volkswagen a wide range to offer customers in the mass electric car market.
“The ID. EVERY1 is the last piece of the puzzle on our journey to having the widest model selection in the volume segment. We will then offer every customer the right car with the right drive system—including affordable entry-level all-electric mobility,” Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
