Unveiled at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Nissan Frontier TARMAC concept is a one-of-a-kind, track-ready vehicle that combines the ruggedness of a pickup truck with the performance and handling of a sports car. Based on the 2025 Frontier PRO-X, this street legal truck was developed by Nissan in cooperation with NDA and Forsberg Racing, transforming the Nissan Frontier PRO-X into a low-riding racing machine.
According to Kevin Lutz, Nissan Motorsports team member “The floor at SEMA used to be filled with low-slung, high-performance midsize trucks, so it’s easy to imagine a return of that trend”.

Performance and Specifications
This street-ready powerhouse boasts a 440 HP (328 KW), 542 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque, a 3.8 liter supercharged V6 engine utilizing a prototype NISMO cold air intake and a custom NISMO exhaust system.
The vehicle also has a prototype NISMO high performance 4/6 inch suspension lowering kit to achieve such a low stance and a carbon-barreled NISMO TARMAC 20-inch wheels. The lowered ride height ensures that the vehicle remains stable and responsive during high-speed maneuvers.
Design
By the very looks, the Nissan Frontier TARMAC Concept appears to be a high performance machine. Carbon fiber is extensively used in its wide-body kits, cold air intake, custom roof cap, custom tailgate spoiler, wheels etc. On the outside, its carbon fiber contrasts the Afterburn Orange paint.
It is 4 inches wider than the Frontier PRO-X. This head turner was showcased
According to Hiren Patel, senior manager for Exterior Design at NDA “In Trucks, there is so much potential for modification and customization to a very wide palette of tastes and preferences. With TARMAC, it’s cool to see Frontier imagined in a non-typical truck way.”
The Nissan Frontier TARMAC Concept features a driver-focused cockpit, and a custom race display, performance oriented Recaro sport bucket seats with custom upholstery to complement the outside orange color.
A carbon fiber steering wheel and a custom Chris Forsberg CF/64 manual handbrake for drifting and a full roll cage for added safety and rigidity.
According to Chris Forsberg “We wanted the performance-centric feel to continue inside”
In short
The Nissan Frontier TARMAC concept is a move by Nissan to revive the past culture of performance muscle trucks. As Forsberg said “I want to bring back that nostalgia and show that a truck can have performance, too. You can have a fun, fast, track-ready truck and still throw stuff in the bed.”
The Nissan Frontier TARMAC concept does have an attractive performance oriented low stance wide head turning looks but also has output figures to match it up.
With its unique combination of performance, style, and practicality, the Nissan Frontier TARMAC concept if produced will surely inspire people looking for such attributes in their next purchase.
