Hongqi has started a global campaign, inviting everyone to name its new off-roader before 31th May 2025. The lucky winner would walk away with the first vehicle on production.
This serious off-road SUV concept was unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. It is Hongqi’s first model in the popular luxury off-road segment, which already has established players like Mercedes, BYD Yangwang, and Defender.
Hongqi is a luxury car brand of the FAW Group, and originally Hongqi cars were only used by high-ranking Chinese government officials.

Specifications
Not much has been revealed by Hongqi on the vehicle’s technical specifications other than that it will be a quad-motor and have an acceleration of 4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.
The Hongqi SUV will offer a new energy powertrain and will also have triple differential locks to enhance its off-road capabilities.
Design
The design has been inspired by an ancient Chinese woodworking technique of joining wood pieces, the mortise and tenon joint.
The front features a big, bold geometrical grille with the iconic red Hongqi brand logo strip in the center. The round headlights resembling a human eye are enclosed in rectangular frames.

The vehicle side has a strong, boxy shape with prominent wheels, a side step, a side ladder, a roof rack, and prominent wheel arches. The rear has vertical taillights and a side-opening tailgate.
A roof-mounted lidar and body cameras indicate an advanced level of driving assistance in this Hongqi SUV.
