You can now know who scratched your car – Check Nio ES8 Guard Mode

In the era of artificial intelligence (AI), vehicles too are getting smarter. The new NIO ES8 SUV has once again raised the bar with its advanced Intelligent Guard Mode that can detect threatening situations like fire, floods, scratches, and collisions. It can then record and notify the owner in real time for taking suitable action.

This AI-driven feature, which uses cutting-edge sensors, chips, and connectivity, represents a leap forward in proactive vehicle protection that can help to potentially save lives and assets. Gone are the days of loud car alarms.

NIO Guard Mode is a great safety feature that enhances protection and monitoring, especially when the vehicle is parked or left unattended.

The NIO ES8 Intelligent Guard Mode Technology

When the Guard Mode is activated, the NIO’s highly sophisticated sensors and processors allow the vehicle to continuously monitor its surroundings not just for everyday threats like scratches, dents, or collisions but also environmental catastrophes like floods, hailstorms, and even fires.

Imagine parking your vehicle in a low-lying area during a heavy storm, or there is a fire in the garage, or someone scratches it while no one is around. The NIO ES8 will alert the owner with real-time video clips through notifications on NIO’s app. If required, the owner can remotely guide the vehicle to drive autonomously to safety.

How does the NIO ES8 Intelligent Guard mode work?

The NIO ES8 utilizes a total of 31 high-tech LiDAR units, 4D radars, sensors, and cameras powered by NIO’s in-house Shenji NX9031 chip and Qualcomm’s 8295 processor to monitor the surrounding areas around the car in real-time. This allows it to identify anomalies like rising water levels and erratic infrared heat patterns.

In case of floods, if the water level rises perilously, the vehicle detects the risk through visual perception (cameras) and sensor data (radars) and automatically elevates the vehicle’s air suspension so as to keep the electronics safe.

Simultaneously, it pushes an urgent alert to the owner’s NIO app along with real-time videos of the incident for a quick assessment and response.

The owner can then intervene remotely to prompt the vehicle to drive autonomously to safe higher ground.

However, in case of fire, the system scans for smoke, flames, or heat signatures, triggering an immediate notification on the owner’s NIO app and even unlocking doors for safe access in dangerous situations.

Users can adjust the sensitivity of Guard Mode based on their needs. For example, an urban environment may require lower sensitivity to avoid frequent alerts, while a car parked in an isolated area might need a higher sensitivity setting.

NIO ES8 Intelligent Guard mode technology: In short

The NIO ES8 Intelligent Guard system is not just another reactive safety feature but a revolutionary proactive safety system that can not only predict an upcoming danger in advance but also notify the owner and then act as instructed.

At present owners can only remotely guide the ES8 to safety, but NIO envisions a day when regulations would allow full autonomy and the vehicle would self-evacuate from flood zones or fire-prone areas without any human intervention.

The Guard Mode is like a guardian angel for your vehicle, offering further peace of mind. An outstanding feature against theft, vandalism, or damage.
