JAC unveiled the DE-FINE, a visionary concept car that even won the prestigious Red Dot technology concept design award 2024. A testament to how much Chinese technology has improved over time.
The DE-FINE is based on JAC’s concept of four major technological pillars: “a high-performance intelligent architecture, an intelligent chassis allowing cross-domain integration, an intelligent cockpit, and an intelligent driving assistance system.”.
JAC DE-FINE is a blend of a sleek, futuristic design and innovative technologies. To come up with this revolutionary concept, JAC had collaborated with Huawei, CATL, Horizon Robotics, iFLYTEK, Tencent, ZF, Nio, etc.
Performance and Specifications
JAC DE-FINE is expected to sprint 0-100 km/h in around 3 sec from its 617 HP (460 kW) silicon carbide motors.
Not much detail has been revealed regarding its battery size, range, etc. But it will feature an 800-volt 4C fast-charging system as standard. JAC has also tied up with Nio for a swappable battery system.
The vehicle is also capable of crab walking and 360-degree tank turns.
Design
Winning the prestigious Red Dot Design Award sums up its design. The JAC DEFINE concept car has been inspired by interstellar exploration, featuring a sleek, futuristic design, automatically opening coach-style doors, two-tone wheels, and integrated lights and cameras in place of rear side mirrors.
JAC’s intelligent chassis architecture enables electric and hybrid powertrain options, rechargeable or swappable battery options, and 2WD or 4WD options.
Inside, the JAC DE-FINE is spacious, with metallic leather complementing its unique golden brown exterior. The highlight of its interior is a 50-inch forward-mounted curved information screen complemented by a 15.6-inch central screen designed primarily for interactive purposes.
JAC DE-FINE can be capable of L4 autonomous driving operations and will be using Huawei’s Harmony OS. Its intelligent cockpit will feature driver-assist systems and voice recognition to integrate functions such as ambient lighting, sound effects, and fragrance control.
