INEOS Grenadier blends Classic Design with Modern Might

In an era dominated by sleek crossovers and electrified SUVs, the Ineos Grenadier stands out as a rugged, no-nonsense 4×4 built for those who crave adventure over asphalt. The Grenadier has already garnered a cult following as a fresh contender in the premium off-roader segment, blending a heritage-inspired design with a solid BMW-sourced powertrain.

Built by Ineos Automotive, a subsidiary of the British chemicals giant Ineos, the Grenadier was conceived as a spiritual successor to the original Land Rover Defender in being durable, capable, and reliable.

“A 4X4 no one’s building anymore. That’s our blueprint for the Grenadier: a seriously capable off-road vehicle engineered to fill the gap,” says Jim Ratcliffe, chairman and CEO of the INEOS Group.

The Ineos Grenadier price starts at 62,495 GBP for the station wagon version in the UK.

Ineos Grenadier Distinctive Retro Design

The Grenadier’s design is unapologetically retro, drawing inspiration from classic Defenders. Its boxy silhouette—flat panels, prominent wheel arches, and exposed hinges—evokes the 1948 original Land Rover, but with modern refinements.

The foundation of the Grenadier is its full box-sectioned ladder-frame chassis that is rigid, strong, simple, and stable. True to its “back-to-basics” philosophy, the Grenadier’s features emphasize functionality over flash.

Ineos Grenadier Review

Ineos Grenadier Review: In short

The INEOS Grenadier isn’t for everyone; it’s a love letter to those who value grit over gadgets. It reminds us that true adventure demands vehicles as tough as the humans behind the wheel.

“Built for more” is a call to drivers to get off their sofa, break free from the confines of digital devices, and embrace what the outdoor world has to offer. The Grenadier is a go-anywhere 4×4, engineered to world-class standards and literally built for more of what the world has to offer,” says Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive.

Looking ahead, INEOS is diversifying: the Quartermaster pickup is now in full production along with the modified Trialmaster X LETECH models. Though challenges remain, like the need to build a reputation for long-term reliability. But the Grenadier is already building a cult following. Do check out other INEOS models on their official website.

“Good luck to the others; they’re cool cars. But we’re tired of the comparisons. To be clear, this is all about saying we’re different.” – Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive
