Dongfeng unveiled its new armored-looking Dongfeng Warrior M817 electric SUV under its M-Hero brand at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. The vehicle will probably be the first to be equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4.
Dongfeng is one of the major car manufacturers in China. It has a lot of experience building military vehicles, and that looks evident in the design of its vehicles under its M-Hero brand. Similar to the Dongfeng M-Hero 917, the M817 also looks like a military-grade armored vehicle. But it is not only the looks; the vehicles are highly capable both on-road and off-road.
Not much information on its performance and technical specifications has been released so far, but we can expect it to be like that of the Dongfeng M-Hero 917 model which produces over 1,000 HP and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

Design
The Dongfeng Warrior M817 electric SUV features a bold, boxy design with sharp lines, an intimidating tall stance, and huge tires, giving it a serious off-road appeal. There are LED light bars both at the front and back, an illuminating brand logo, and the grill frame that lights up when the vehicle is started. The LiDAR sensor on the roof signals the vehicle’s advanced level of driver-assist and autonomous driving capability.

The side has a strong, boxy design with high and pronounced wheel arches, big wheels, a floating ladder, and sharp, straight lines.

The vehicle shall be offered in two versions, one for city cruising and the other specifically for off-road conditions. The off-road version will feature better ground clearance, stronger suspension, and thick all-terrain tires.

Dongfeng Warrior M817 Electric SUV : In short
With Dongfeng’s military background, the Warrior M817 provides a unique combination of Dongfeng’s military-grade engineering with Huawei’s intelligent driver-assist and autonomous driving technology.
The Dongfeng Warrior M817 electric SUV is therefore a tough, luxurious vehicle with some serious off-road capabilities, competing with BYD Yangwang U8 and Fang Cheng Bao models.
More information regarding its performance and dimensions is expected to be released soon, and it is most likely to be sold only in China at present before being launched in other countries.
