On 12th Dec 2024, a Chery Fulwin A8L sets a Guinness World Record having driven from Shangri-la City to the Shanwei City covering a distance of 2,369.915 km (1,472.596 miles) without refueling or recharging. Thus setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest journey by a plug-in hybrid production car without refueling or recharging, which was previously held by SAIC Roewe D7 DMH for 2,208 km. This showcases just how much the Chinese hybrid technology has improved over the years.
Fulwin is a brand of Chery especially to produce PHEV and EREV models based on the existing Chery models. The Chery Fulwin A8L, also known as the Fengyun A8L in China, is based on the Chery Arrizo 8.
Chery Fulwin A8L was launched in five trim levels with prices ranging from RMB 109,900 (USD 15,060) to RMB 149,900 (USD 20,540) in China.
Performance and Specifications
The Chery Fulwin A8L has a maximum output of 265 kW and 530 Nm of torque and comes equipped with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder hybrid engine with Chery’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM5.0 technology, giving a maximum thermal efficiency of 44.5%. Both naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines are offered.
The vehicle has a Stepless Super Hybrid DHT gearbox with a comprehensive efficiency of 92%. In EV-only mode, the mechanical efficiency is claimed to be 98.5%. It uses CATL’s high-performance hybrid battery and adjustable braking energy regeneration technology.
It has a 145 km pure electric range and a combined range of over 2,100 km.
The Chery Fulwin A8L is 4,780 mm long, 1,843 mm wide, 1,487 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,790 mm.
Design
The Chery Fulwin A8L is a sleek-looking four-door family saloon.
On the inside, it offers a 15.6-inch 2.5K large screen, comfortable heating/ventilated seats, an ENC noise reduction function, a C-PURE air quality management system, a Sony sound system, and an infotainment unit supporting Huawei, Apple, and Google.
The Chery Fulwin A8L also emphasizes safety, with high-strength steel constituting 80% of its structure. Inside there are 10 airbags with a 1,983.7 mm extra-long side air curtain.
