BMW recently held the world premiere of its new 2026 BMW iX3 EV at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. BMW is introducing a new platform named ”Neue Klasse” with this next-generation BMW iX3 fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV).
“The Neue Klasse is our biggest future project and marks a huge leap in terms of technologies, driving experience, and design. What started as a bold vision has now become reality: the BMW iX3 is the first Neue Klasse model to go into series production,” says Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.
The BMW iX3 2026 is not just another model; it’s a bold statement of BMW’s vision of its future models. It will be built at the newly constructed BMW plant in Hungary, with the first model, the BMW iX3 50 xDrive, expected to roll off the production line in autumn 2025.

BMW iX3 2026 Eye-Catching Design
The BMW iX3 electric draws inspiration from BMW’s iconic 1960s Neue Klasse models with an upright front end, BMW’s kidney grille in a vertical arrangement, and all-new signature headlights.
A sleek, athletic silhouette that’s slightly longer than its gas-powered X3 sibling but with a stretched wheelbase for enhanced interior space. The virtually invisible flush door handles extend automatically and light up in the darkness with the owner at a distance of around two meters. The body-color wheel arches give it a luxurious feel.

The rear features taillights extending well into the center, providing a modern flair. An intelligent charging flap opens automatically as soon as the vehicle detects that you wish to charge and closes automatically once the plug is removed.

The interior of the new BMW iX3 2026 electric model has an uncluttered, reduced design. The star feature is the revolutionary BMW Panoramic iDrive display, a sweeping 17.9-inch high-resolution central display in a free-cut design paired with a slim customizable 43-inch digital screen spanning the entire windshield’s base.
This “Panoramic Vision” setup, combined with an optional 3D Head-Up Display, provides intuitive, driver-focused controls that minimize distractions.

One can interact via touch or by voice with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. It can provide suggestions on navigation, entertainment, and vehicle controls.

High-quality sustainable fabrics, soft-touch surfaces, and ambient lighting create a comfortable ambiance. Rear seats fold flat for a versatile cargo space of up to 1,750 liters. A panoramic sunroof with climate comfort glazing is also optional.

The 2026 BMW iX3 EV Review: In short
In a crowded EV market, the BMW iX3 2026 electric stands out as the first true taste of BMW’s Neue Klasse vision—efficient, exhilarating, and luxurious. The vehicle combines performance, range, and futuristic design with the practicality of an SUV and the soul of a sports car.
BMW intends to incorporate the technologies of the Neue Klasse into 40 new models and model updates coming up till 2027.
“The automotive market is undergoing the most sweeping change in its history. For a brand like BMW that tends to be ahead of its competitors, innovation is key. But to set itself apart on the global stage in the long term, every brand needs a relevant promise that speaks to emotions—and that is something BMW has more of than any other car brand. BMW literally invented driving pleasure. Its Neue Klasse now transports it into a new era.” Says Andreas Ernst, Managing Director at Jung von Matt Hamburg
